Sustainability, green energy, environment protection, being earth friendly and so on, are more than mere buzzwords – these are the need of the hour so that each of us can make at least a small contribution towards lessening the impact that we have on our environment.
We need greater emphasis on reducing sprawl, increasing density, reducing greenhouse emissions and reducing dependence upon oil. Emphasis on sustainable homes that lower our impact on the environment also needs to increase. Sustainability has its place in the construction, government sectors, small businesses as well as big corporations.
This is why the concept of Everblue.edu, the Everblue Training Institute and the courses in LEED certification, green engineering and sustainability that it offers make a lot of sense.
What is LEED certification?
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and consists of a system of ratings that governs the design, construction and running of buildings, homes and communities in an environmentally friendly manner. The system is developed by the US Green Building Council.
The system helps to define and identify measurable and practical green building design ideas for construction as well as maintenance and operation solutions. Buildings that follow LEED guidelines are indented to use fewer resources more efficiently as well as to provide healthier living and working environments for people.
There are benefits to the society as a whole when air and water quality is improved and solid waste is reduced. On a personal level as well, there are benefits such as enhanced employee productivity and improved health and wellbeing.
